In 2013, Conbit was contracted to assist Merford in supplying a noise control system for the Edvard Grieg platform. Siemens awarded Merford the contract to design and supply a noise control module to cover their skid-based compressor trains.
The Edvard Grieg platform is located approximately 180 km to the west of Norway, close to the Grane and Sleipner field.
The Conbit scope was to design the structural sections of the module. The design should comply with the Siemens Technical Specifications and Norsok guidelines. It was restricted to detailed engineering.
Besides the noise control function of the module, it must also be resistant to blast.
Merford directly subcontracted a fabricator to prepare the fabrication drawing.
The noise limitations for new offshore platforms are becoming smaller. The segment in which Merford operates will be growing in the next few years. Conbit will continue to be a reliable partner on the structural side of these projects.
