Conbit is proud to announce that it has been awarded Lot 1of the ICCP Retrofit project at the at SylWin alpha Offshore Converter Station, operated by TenneT. This contract highlights Conbit’s expertise in upgradingoffshore wind assets and its commitment to supporting the renewable energysector.
The project aims to protect the substation’s jacket structure against corrosion and ensure its operational integrity for at least 25 years. Conbit’s scope includes the design, delivery, and above-water installation of an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system, along with the training of TenneT service group members on its usage and monitoring.
To deliver a cutting-edge solution, Conbit has partnered with Deepwater Europe Ltd., which will supply its advanced RetroBuoy ICCP system. The RetroBuoy system is designed to provide effective and reliable cathodic protection, ensuring the jacket structure achieves protection levels between -800 mV and -1100 mV, verified by reference anodes.
In addition to its robust performance, the ICCP system features a human-readable interface, enabling efficient monitoring and the forwarding of data to third parties for interpretation. Conbit will ensure that the system meets certification requirements from Lloyd’s Register (LR) and fulfills BSH standards for underwater corrosion protection.
The ICCP Retrofit project is divided into two lots:
Together, these efforts will ensure comprehensive and long-lasting corrosion protection for the at SylWin alpha Offshore Converter Station.
Conbit’s Commercial Director, Bram van Oirschot, shared the significance of this award: "This project demonstrates Conbit’s strong position in upgrading, maintaining, and modifying offshore wind assets, especially substations. By integrating innovative technology like Deepwater Europe’s RetroBuoy system, we continue to support the industry in addressing the growing need to upgrade aging offshore infrastructure. We are proud to collaborate with TenneT on this important project, which reinforces our commitment to delivering sustainable and reliable solutions for the offshore wind sector."
