Our client, Shell Offshore, wanted to replace their HP (3mT) and LP (500kg) flare tips – on an inclined boom on their Mars Platform in the Gulf of Mexico. These flare tips were in difficult-to-reach areas on the platform and needed a customized solution.
Conbit provided a gantry system solution, where the flare tips were lifted over the edge of the platform. The load was lifted with a high-speed lifting winch and lowered onto the supply vessel.
In order to execute this solution and achieve maximum results, Conbit used their LRE1 and LRE2 systems to install a gantry system with winch cables to facilitate equipment lifts to and from a supply vessel.
Although faced with pressing challenges such as Covid19 limitations; weather and other logistical matters - one of the direst challenges was the fact that the platform needed to be in total shutdown to complete the project successfully. We focused on our core belief and foundation of operations, which is providing turnkey solutions together with the power of preparation to encourage outside-of-the-box thinking as well as dynamic and adaptable work methods.
Through effective and efficient collaboration with Shell, the Conbit team ensured that the project was completed within the given time frame, which left Shell highly pleased, as their operations could commence without further delay and costs.
