Conbit's recent project, in collaboration with partner CR3, involved flare tip replacements for the end client PTTEP in Thailand. The endeavor featured the adept use of specialized equipment such as electrical winches and a client air-driven winch, alongside client davits and Conbit's own gantry system. Guided by experienced on-site managers, the project yielded exceptional results and garnered high praise from PTTEP for its efficiency and quality execution.
PTTEP Energy Development Company Limited enlisted the expertise of CR3/Conbit for flare tip replacements on the Greater Bongkot North (GBN) platforms, situated approximately 250 km east of Songkhla in the Gulf of Thailand. Owned and operated by PTT Exploration & Production, the Bongkot field comprises six main interconnected platforms: Production Platform (PP), Riser Platform (RP), Quarter living Platform (QP), Wellhead Platform 1 (WP1), Sour Production Platform (SPP), and Flare Platform (FP).
The project's primary focus lies on the replacement of high-pressure (HP) flare tips on the FP and SPP towers, alongside maintenance of the low-pressure (LP) flare tip on the PP tower. Utilizing mechanical handling devices, lifting tools, including davits or (backup) gantries, the project aims to execute precise operations for enhanced safety and efficiency. The specific scopes encompass the replacement of two HP flare tips on the FP vertical flare tower, the HP flare tip on the SPP Inclined flare tower, and the LP flare tip pilot and wind shield on the PP vertical flare tower.
The project necessitated a sizable crew comprising over 25 technicians, encompassing a mix of local talent and European expertise. This extensive workforce was essential due to the simultaneous execution of works during a brief shutdown period across three distinct locations on the Greater Bongkot North platform, situated offshore Thailand. The collaborative effort of this diverse team ensured the seamless coordination and timely completion of tasks, underscoring our commitment to efficiency and safety in every facet of the project execution.
