Ponticelli Angola awarded Conbit the contract to repair the flare tips and the flare tip access platform of FPSO Girassol. Part of the project involved supplying the complete set of equipment, including lifting and mechanical equipment.
Total E&P Angola operates the FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading) Girassol offshore Angola. Ponticelli is one of the subcontractors for maintenance on the FPSO.
During the offshore works, which took place during the shutdown, the team stayed on vessel Lancelot (Internship). During the first days offshore, the team and the inspectors established the priority scope of work while some crew members installed all the equipment.
The team completed the repair work at the top of the flare tower in a week. They repaired several cracks on the flare tip itself and the flare tip access platform. The flare tips are now fit for the coming years of operation, and the flare tip access platform can be accessed safely again.
The Conbit team of 4 consisted of two welders, a team leader, and a rigger. All team members had IRATA certification, including one level 3 IRATA rope access technician.
