GBA Flare Systems was contracted to deliver the flare tip package for the Baronia BNCPP-B offshore platform in Malaysian waters.
Conbit’s extensive flare tip lifting experience paved the way and got contracted by GBA Flare Systems to design and deliver a mechanical handling system for flare tip replacement and installation.
Following the client’s specifications, Conbit prepared the structural design of the flare tip handling system, which featured a retractable davit as the main lifting equipment. A retractable davit system will enable the operators to efficiently and rapidly replace the flare tip. This project required a fully engineered design that involved davit lift technology combining safe working procedures, low risks, and effective job completion.
After the replacement, the davit will be permanently stowed below the flare-tip service platform. It will provide a cost-effective method for flare-tip servicing, repair, and replacement in the future. The davit can be handled manually, eliminating the need for heavy motorized equipment or cranes.
Conbit devised extensive and detailed procedures for flare-tip handling and equipment installation.
In addition to the structural design and operation, Conbit also delivered lifting materials and equipment that were required for the lifting procedure, such as the winch. A load test was performed in Conbit’s warehouse to test the lifting system.
