Chevron, required our crew to exchange the flare tips as well as remove severely damaged david structures from their BBLT platform in Angola.
Together with our local partner, Interoil Angola, we used a three-system lifting solution to remove and install flare tips as well as remove the david structure.
With the use of the three-system lifting solution, our team used their skills and expertise to start the project with safety and efficiency at high priority.
THE OPERATION
Conbit’s crew had to replace and install the HP and LP flare tips on a platform with various size restrictions. Our team additionally had to remove the extremely damaged David structure. Also new cradles were designed, in which new flare tips are to be stored safely and securely on the deck of the supply vessel.
The crew handled the project efficiently while executing all the lifts from the supplyvessel to the platform. Conbit’s managed to complete the project successfully, and safety given the many challenges that were thrown their way – from a short shutdown period on the platform to space constraints on the platform.
THE EQUIPMENT
Conbit used its signature three-system lifting which consisted of single boom cranes, a gantry structure, and a winch.
Firstly, the single boom cranes (LRE) were used to build up the entire structure and system of the solution. Secondly, the main system of the solution is the gantry system, which was used to remove and install the flare tips on the platform. Lastly, the winch was used to assist in lifting and lowering the flare tips to and from the supply vessel.
Conbit’s detailed planning and experienced crew ensured the complicated offshore lift went smoothly and safely. I would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again on future flare tip replacements
