Ponticelli Angola awarded Conbit the contract for repair works on the flare tips and access platform of FPSO Girassol. The project included the supply of specialised equipment and the offshore execution.

Offshore crew

The team consisted of a team leader, a technician with rope access level 3 certification and 2 qualified welders. All the team members had IRATA certification and were qualified riggers. This composition makes the team flexible. The team is able to lift components from deck level to any location in the flare structure and to the flare tip access platform. The welders can weld at any location, either from a fixed support or by using rope access.

Supply of equipment

As Conbit is very experienced in this kind of work, it can select and propose a perfect equipment package. Although the scope of work was not clearly defined prior to mobilisation, the Conbit project manager was able to compile a complete package. The scope of work was completed with the package, which included a lift winch, lifting structure and mechanical hand tools. The client made its own welding machines available for the Conbit team.
