ENGINEERING AND EXECUTION

The used flare tip (weighing 1780kg) was lifted using the existing davit on top of the platform
Conbit provided the required engineering, which included the installation procedure, a load test and the replacement procedure. Conbit was also responsible for the actual execution of the replacement.

THE CHALLENGE

This project was unusually challenging for several reasons. Conbit received short notice of the shutdown, and the shutdown schedule was tight. Also, the offshore execution needed to be performed in a period of adverse weather conditions.
However, thanks to its vast expertise in flare-tip replacement, the Conbit and CR Asia team managed to complete the operation successfully, safely and ahead of schedule. Consequently, the shutdown period was shortened by one full day.
