Flare tip replacement

Offshore Flare tip handling is a job for specialists

Carefull planning of flare tip replacements is crucial. Given the high-risk nature of this task, involving specialists is essential to ensure precision and safety. Flare tip operations are often on the critical path of shutdown planning, necessitating meticulous coordination and expertise. With limited opportunities to prepare the flare tip before shutdowns, it's crucial to have experienced professionals who can manage the complexities and mitigate potential risks, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Trusting specialists for flare tip services guarantees compliance, safety, and operational excellence.

The flare tip exchange at Appommatox was one to remember. The project moved backwards a few times ,with Conbit remaining on standby. The flare tip handling equipment was mobiolized well in time for execution offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.

Conbit exchanged several hundreds of flare tips

Conbit boasts extensive experience in flare tip exchange, having successfully completed dozens of projects worldwide. Utilizing an innovative mechanical handling method, Conbit eliminates the need for crane vessels or helicopters, ensuring a more efficient and predictable process. This advanced technique not only reduces the duration of shutdowns but also minimizes unexpected complications. Conbit’s proven approach offers a reliable and cost-effective solution, ensuring that your operations resume swiftly and smoothly. By entrusting Conbit with your flare tip needs, you benefit from our global expertise, commitment to safety, and dedication to minimizing downtime.

Modular flare tip handling system

Conbit employs a modular lifting system for handling flare tips, ensuring versatility and efficiency in various operational contexts. This innovative system can be installed manually, with components that are reusable and adaptable for handling weights ranging from 250 kg to over 10,000 kg. The use of lightweight materials, such as aluminum, enables easy manual erection of the lifting structures, making the process both practical and safe.

The modular system to replace flare tips is designed by Conbit. All kinds of configurations are created to allow for handling flare tips rangign in weight.

The system’s design ensures that the winch stays on the deck of the offshore facility or FPSO, with the winch wire threaded through the lifting apparatus situated atop the flare tip platform. This setup not only simplifies the lifting process but also enhances safety by keeping heavy equipment off the elevated platforms. Conbit’s method ensures a reliable, efficient, and secure approach to flare tip handling, minimizing downtime and reducing operational risks.

Planning yoru flare tip replacement

The project process begins with creating a concept, followed by an onsite verification. During this site survey, access to the flare is not required. The primary goal is to assess the deck situation and obtain a clear view of the flare tower. Conbit’s in-house engineers then perform detailed engineering, developing all work procedures and conducting structural analysis.

Project preparation involves functional testing of the lifting system at one of Conbit's facilities. Upon successful tests, the system is packed into 20' offshore containers and shipped to the platform. A crew of 4-7 persons is mobilized to the project site, completing the work within the agreed time window, which can be as short as three shutdown days
