Maersk's containership Eugen is on the move again after suffering a fire while crossing the Gulf of Aden from Jebel Ali.
Conbit reacted fast to Svitzer's call to provide rope access assistance in the port of Djibouti. The fire started in one of the containers and spread to two nearby containers.
The crew responded and tried to contain the blaze. The vessel proceeded to an anchorage off Djibouti, where a tug with fire fighting equipment was able to extinguish the fire. The Eugen Maersk then moved to the container terminal at Djibouti, where the Conbit team of eight rope access technicians assisted with unloading the containers.
Rope access helped access difficult-to-reach locations. Conbit is committed to providing world-class safety standards and did not remain unnoticed by the port authority and operator.
